Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal has sharply criticised the ruling Congress government after the Chief Minister, his deputy, cabinet ministers and party MLAs staged a walkout from the Assembly and held a street protest. He said it was unprecedented for a government to abandon its own legislative session, calling the move a “serious constitutional concern”.

Bindal said the sight of ministers carrying placards inside the Assembly and shouting slogans outside reflected a deeper breakdown in governance. He accused the government of failing to administer the state and claimed it had “taken to the streets instead of running the administration”. The BJP leader alleged the Congress had come to power in 2022 on “false promises” and had pushed Himachal Pradesh into economic and administrative crisis within three years. He said senior citizens were protesting for their dues while the government itself was also staging demonstrations, calling it evidence of a “complete collapse of authority”.

Bindal claimed the state’s debt had increased by ₹45,000 crore in three years and accused the government of political appointments and allowing “mafias” to flourish. He said the Congress leadership was blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP to deflect attention from its record.

He also criticised the Congress for attacking the RSS, accusing it of targeting an organisation that, he said, had supported people during crises. Bindal reiterated long-standing BJP accusations against the Congress relating to national security and historical political decisions, arguing that the party had “lost moral authority to govern”.

He said the Congress was facing political decline across the country and that its frustration was visible in its protests in Himachal Pradesh.
