After intense meetings in the last 2 days over seat allocation, the Congress party and Aam Aadmi Party are possibly moving towards a resolution for their political alliance, with an official announcement expected to be made today. AAP was initially going to announce its candidate list on September 8, but following the discussions, it was postponed to today. Out of the 90-member assembly, AAP is expected to secure around 5 to 6 seats, which would include major constituencies like Kalayat, Gurugram, Pehowa and more. While AAP also requested the Sohna and Ballabgarh seats, Congress declined, according to media reports.
While the two parties are working towards the alliance, certain internal opposition has risen in AAP against this alliance. Former Delhi Minister Somnath Bharti voiced concerns on his social media X, formerly known as Twitter. “AAP supporters are strongly opposed to such a mismatch and selfish partnership, and the party should contest all seats in Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi on its own,” he wrote on his X, formerly known as Twitter.
Several AAP leaders echoed this concern and opposed the alliance, saying Congress could damage AAP’s long-term prospects. “Congress has no MLAs in Delhi right now. Why should we give them seats when we’ve been dominating?” a senior party leader questioned.
