Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met members of India’s Blind Women’s T20 World Cup–winning team in New Delhi, praising their determination and describing their achievements as an inspiration for the country. The players visited the Prime Minister at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, where he commended their resilience and urged them to continue pursuing their sporting goals with confidence. He emphasized that those who move forward through hard work never fail, not only on the sports field but also in life. He noted that the players had created their own identity, which had strengthened their self-confidence.

Marking the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the Prime Minister said the squad’s unity and team spirit reflected the values celebrated in the iconic national song. He also applauded the musical ability of one player who sang devotional verses, noting a personal connection with the city of Kashi.

In a lighter moment, Modi likened the players’ versatility to public life, saying that just as politicians take on different responsibilities — as ministers, MLAs or MPs — the team too had demonstrated their skills as all-rounders. Several players shared stories of personal struggle, including social barriers and family hardships they had overcome to reach the international stage. One recalled her late father’s dream of seeing her succeed and said meeting the Prime Minister had fulfilled that hope.

Modi told the squad that their victory was a source of inspiration not just for people with disabilities but for all Indians, adding that their success reflected the strength and determination of the country’s youth. He concluded the meeting by congratulating the team for raising India’s global profile and for motivating others through their dedication.
