Punjab’s Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian has said that the state’s Easy Registry initiative has transformed the property registration system, making it more transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly. Speaking in Chandigarh on Friday, the minister said that between July and December 2025, a total of 370,967 property documents were registered under the new system, describing the response as a strong endorsement of the reforms.

Mundian said the figures reflected growing public trust in a time-bound and harassment-free process. He noted that registrations stood at 64,965 in July, 62,001 in August, 55,814 in September and 53,610 in October, before rising to 58,200 in November. December recorded the highest number, with 76,377 documents registered. According to the Minister, Easy Registry has introduced online pre-scrutiny of documents, reducing procedural delays and limiting opportunities for corruption. Unsigned sale deeds are now examined online within 48 hours, while objections raised during scrutiny are monitored by deputy commissioners and sub-divisional magistrates to ensure accountability.

He said the adoption of a First In, First Out system had ended queue-jumping and preferential treatment, often referred to as VIP culture. Citizens are now free to register property documents at any sub-registrar office within their district, increasing access and competition.

The Minister added that applicants receive automated updates via WhatsApp at each stage of the process, including scrutiny, payments and appointment scheduling. A complaint mechanism has also been introduced to report any demand for bribes, with district authorities tasked with swift action.

Additional features include online drafting of sale deeds through the ‘Draft My Deed’ module, support at Sewa Kendra counters in sub-registrar offices, and doorstep services through a dedicated helpline. Online payment of stamp duty and registration fees through multiple banks has further simplified transactions.

Mundian said an integrated token management system had reduced waiting times and ensured uniform service delivery across urban and rural Punjab, adding that improved infrastructure and trained staff had strengthened public confidence and boosted state revenue.
