Noise levels at singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Chandigarh last October exceeded permissible limits, the Chandigarh Administration informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday. The disclosure was made during a hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) addressing traffic, crowd management, and security concerns during the event, according to the news outlet Bar and Bench. The administration, in its affidavit, stated that noise monitoring conducted at various locations during the concert on October 14, 2024, showed levels surpassing those prescribed under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.

“Action under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, has been proposed,” the affidavit said. The PIL raised broader concerns over event-related disruptions, prompting the court to review compliance with environmental and public safety regulations.
