The Himachal Pradesh Mahila Congress on Friday demanded the resignation of Rajeev Bindal, state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), after his brother Ram Kumar Bindal was arrested in connection with a rape case in Solan. Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Mahila Congress president Zainab Chandel said the incident had “brought shame to the state” and raised serious questions about the silence of BJP leaders, particularly its women leaders. She accused the BJP of “double standards,” saying that the party talks about women’s safety in slogans but “acts differently in reality.”
The Mahila Congress also demanded security for the survivor, saying the case is “high-profile” and her life could be at risk. “This is a matter of justice for the woman. We will stand by her until she gets justice,” Chandel said.
However, Himachal BJP chief Rajeev Bindal has denied the allegation levelled against his brother and termed this case as political motivated.
