CM Sukhu meets Health Minister Nadda, seeks support to strengthen state healthcare

Shimla/ New Delhi, May 22

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss strengthening the healthcare system in the state. During the meeting, the two leaders held detailed talks on the implementation and progress of key health initiatives, including Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission, as well as the development of health infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Sukhu requested the central government’s support for establishing a dedicated cancer care centre in the state and urged for modern medical technology and advanced equipment to be made available in hospitals to improve patient care. He also appealed for relaxed norms in various health schemes, taking into account the difficult geographical terrain of the hill state, and requested the release of pending funds. In response, Minister Nadda assured full cooperation and said the interests of Himachal Pradesh would be safeguarded.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh, and Chief Minister’s Secretary Rakesh Kanwar.
