Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed officials to ensure the timely completion of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences and Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur, emphasising the need for efficient execution of the project.

Chairing a review meeting at his official residence, Mann stressed that the institute, spanning 21.41 acres and costing ₹418.3 crore, is crucial for delivering quality healthcare. The development includes a hospital with 300 beds and a medical college designed for an annual intake of 150 students.

The hospital will feature two basements, eight floors, and a service floor within the existing medical hospital campus in Hoshiarpur. Meanwhile, the proposed medical college will include an auditorium, service blocks with two basements, and six floors. Separate hostel facilities for male and female students are planned, with provisions for future expansion.

To expedite the project, Mann recommended calling separate tenders for the construction of the medical college and hospital. He underscored the importance of accelerating the process to provide essential healthcare services to the Kandi region. Officials were instructed to ensure swift allocation and execution of the work within set timelines.
