Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday called for stronger agricultural cooperation between Punjab and Argentina, saying it could help make farming more profitable and sustainable for both regions. The Chief Minister made the remarks while interacting with a delegation from Centro Agrotechnico Regional, whose faculty and students are on a study tour at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) from October 8 to 17.

Chief Minister Mann highlighted Argentina’s agricultural strength in livestock and grain production and said mutual collaboration could be beneficial as both Punjab and Argentina have agriculture-based economies. “We can work together by fostering bilateral cooperation in agriculture,” he said, noting that Argentine delegations will now visit PAU annually.

He also announced that a delegation from PAU will travel to Argentina each year to gain exposure to advanced agricultural practices. Mann said the two regions face similar challenges and can develop shared solutions, paving the way for more profitable farming.

The Chief Minister also encouraged the visiting students to experience Punjab’s rich cultural heritage during their stay.

The Argentine delegation included General Coordinator of Practical Activities Huber Catalina Felisa, Instructor Casal Juan Pablo, Teacher Landaburu Ignacio Esteban, Harms Kiara Aymara Victoria, Harms Tiago Eluney Ernesto, Risso Pedro and Mahfud Terre Santiago. They praised the Chief Minister for the warm hospitality and described the visit as “a unique and enriching experience.”

PAU Vice Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal, Director Students Welfare Nirmal Jaura, Associate Director Vishal Bector, and HOD Resource Management and Consumer Science Sharanbeer Kaur Bal were also present.
