The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region has welcomed the Union Government’s announcement of Next-Gen GST reforms, calling them a landmark step that will simplify compliance, strengthen competitiveness, and drive growth across critical sectors.

Anjali Singh, Chairperson of CII Northern Region and Executive Chairperson of ANAND Group, said the reforms would “boost transparency and enhance ease of doing business” while bolstering investor confidence. “For manufacturing in particular, the reduction of GST rates on automobiles and components will provide relief to supply chains and smaller vendors, while also supporting competitiveness and long-term growth,” she noted. Singh added that the measures would help position India as a “global hub for innovation, investment, and industrial excellence.”

Echoing the sentiment, Puneet Kaura, Deputy Chairperson of CII Northern Region and MD & CEO of Samtel Avionics, highlighted the reforms’ impact on high-technology and defense-linked manufacturing. “By easing compliance and rationalising tax structures, the government has given industry greater confidence to invest in advanced capabilities,” he said, while underscoring the importance of continued focus on R&D and indigenisation to achieve self-reliance and global leadership.

Reiterating its commitment, CII Northern Region said it would work closely with government and industry stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the reforms, while continuing advocacy for sector-specific measures to accelerate India’s growth trajectory.
