The CII Northern Region has welcomed the rollout of India’s four consolidated Labour Codes, calling them a landmark reform that simplifies 29 existing laws and strengthens worker welfare while boosting India’s progress toward becoming a developed economy by 2047. The Codes introduce uniform definitions, simplified compliance, and provisions aimed at inclusivity, safety, and wider formalization particularly benefiting MSMEs.

The CII Northern Region Chairperson Anjali Singh described the Codes as a “pivotal shift in India’s world of work,” noting that the reforms prioritise better working conditions, stronger safety standards, and a transparent industrial ecosystem. Leaders including Puneet Kaura, Deputy Chairperson, CII , highlighted that simplification of labour regulations will enhance ease of doing business, support manufacturing growth, and strengthen India’s global investment appeal, while addressing long-standing industry concerns over regulatory complexity.

Emphasising the reforms’ inclusive thrust, Sushil Baveja, Chairman, CII Regional Committee on HR and IR, noted that clearer norms will help more enterprises transition into the formal sector and expand opportunities especially for women. With wider social security coverage for gig, platform, and unorganised workers, along with updated safety and working-hour provisions, the Codes are expected to foster healthier workplaces and long-term productivity, positioning India’s workforce to drive Vision 2047 ambitions.
