India must recognise the “high degree of collusion” between Pakistan and China, Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi said on Saturday, stressing the reality of a two-front war threat. Speaking at the India Today Conclave Dwivedi warned of the extent of the alliance between India’s two nuclear-armed neighbours.

“There is a high degree of collusion that we must acknowledge. In the virtual domain, it is nearly 100 per cent. Physically, most of the equipment present is of Chinese origin. The two-front war threat is a reality,” he said.

Addressing cross-border incursions at the India Today Conclave, General Dwivedi said there had been no sign of a slowdown. “Has there been any signal suggesting a halt? Has there been any indication at all? The answer is no. We must be prepared for an increase in terrorist movement,” he added.

Despite the looming threats, the Indian Army has made substantial progress in its counter-terrorism efforts. The number of terrorist incidents has dropped by 83% since 2018, Army Chief Dwivedi, said during a discussion with India Today News Director Rahul Kanwal and Managing Editor Gaurav Sawant at the India Today Conclave. Recruitment of militants in the Kashmir Valley has also seen a sharp decline, with only 45 individuals joining terrorist ranks. Meanwhile, tourism in the region has surged, with over 500,000 people attending the Amarnath Yatra this year, he said.
