The Indian Army must play its part in helping India achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 by focusing on unity, self-reliance and innovation, a senior commander has said on Wednesday.
“India is moving towards becoming a developed nation, and the Army too must contribute by focusing on unity, self-reliance and innovation,” said Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), speaking at its 35th raising day celebrations in Shimla.
Eighteen soldiers were awarded GOC-in-C commendation certificates for outstanding service, while three training institutions received financial excellence awards. Lt Gen Sharma congratulated the recipients and extended greetings on the command’s anniversary.
He said ARTRAC was working in line with the Indian Army’s “Decade of Transformation” and “Year of Tech Absorption” initiatives. By 2030, the command plans to integrate 34 new technologies into its training curriculum to strengthen operational preparedness.
As part of the commemorations, the 24th edition of Pinnacle, ARTRAC’s professional journal dedicated to contemporary and future warfare systems, was released.
Established in Mhow on 1 October 1991, ARTRAC was relocated to Shimla in 1993. It now provides training guidance to 34 Category ‘A’ institutions across India, helping maintain the highest standards of institutional training.
