Kullu, April 28

The three-day state-level Peepal Fair commenced at Dhalpur ground in Kullu district with the arrival of Devta Gauhri on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the annual festivities.

Devta Gauhri reached the venue amid traditional drumbeats and established a temporary camp, where devotees gathered to seek blessings. The deity will remain stationed at the camp for three days and continue to bless visitors . Rituals were performed by the deity’s guru, who also blessed the Municipal Council Kullu for the successful event of the fair.

Officials said preparations for the fair have been completed, including the allotment of stalls and the decoration of the Dhalpur ground with flowers. Cultural evenings will be held ежедневно at the Kala Kendra, where local artists will present performances over the three days.

Temporary domes have been set up near the Deputy Commissioner’s office, with traders beginning to set up their shops. A traditional ‘phadi’ market has been arranged in the main ground, while a Meena Bazaar is being organized along both ends of the Mall Road. An exhibition area featuring local cuisine and handloom products has also been set up.

Executive Officer of Municipal Council Kullu, B R Negi, said that due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct, the Spring Queen competition will not be held this year. He added that arrangements for cleanliness have been strengthened, and facilities are being provided to traders arriving from outside the state.

The fair is expected to draw large crowds over the next three days, adding vibrancy to the Dhalpur ground.
