Patiala, April 17

Farmers in Punjab have decided to delay their planned rail blockade by three days after the government asked them to wait.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher explained that they made this decision because authorities asked for more time to resolve the issue.

Earlier, farmer unions announced a statewide ‘rail roko’ protest from 12 pm to 3 pm to draw attention to wheat crops left unattended in markets across Punjab.

The protest was meant to highlight concerns about slow procurement and poor management, which have led to harvested wheat piling up in grain markets.

Now that the protest has been postponed, farmers will wait to see how the government responds in the next few days.
