An audio recording allegedly from a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member has claimed that comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Surrey, Canada, was targeted because he invited Bollywood actor Salman Khan to its inauguration. In the audio, purportedly recorded by Bishnoi associate Harry Boxer, the speaker warns that any director, producer or artist working with Khan “will be shot in the chest,” the media reports said.

Hours after the attack, a social media post attributed to gangster Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon claimed responsibility, saying: “Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gang take responsibility for today’s firing at Kap’s Cafe in Surrey … next action will be in Mumbai.” It was the second shooting this month at Sharma’s newly opened café. At least 25 shots were fired in the latest incident, with a voice in a video of the attack saying they had “called the target” before taking action. No injuries were reported, according to media reports.

The first attack, on July 10, occurred when staff were still inside. Police found 10 bullet holes in a window and a shattered pane. After that incident, Harjit Singh Laddi of the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) claimed responsibility, alleging that remarks made at a Sharma show had offended Nihang Sikhs. Sharma and his team have not commented on either incident.
