The Punjab Government has announced elaborate plans to commemorate the 350th Shaheedi centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the 450th foundation day of Sri Amritsar Sahib with large-scale public participation and global digital outreach. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the government would use artificial intelligence, digital media, and international platforms to amplify the message of sacrifice, courage, and humanity associated with Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom.

He said the legacy of the Sikh Gurus must be passed on to future generations and promoted worldwide. “If we begin to speak about the greatness of our Gurus, even months would fall short. This is our legacy — glorious and unmatched — and it is our responsibility to take it to the next generations,” he added. To ensure public involvement, the government has launched a dedicated WhatsApp number, email ID, and official website for collecting ideas and suggestions from the Sangat, civil society, and religious organizations. These platforms were advertised in print media on Saturday, officials said.

Speaker Sandhwan said he would begin meeting religious bodies, civil authorities, and spiritual leaders starting June 1 to gather input. “You will see me holding daily meetings with personalities and institutions,” he said. A special session of the Punjab Assembly will also be held to discuss the principles and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the need for heritage conservation.

“These milestones — 350 years of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Shaheedi and 450 years of Amritsar Sahib — belong to all of humanity. We must celebrate them together, meaningfully, and powerfully,” Sandhwan said.
The Punjab Government has also expressed willingness to collaborate with SGPC, religious bodies, and citizens, promising to seriously consider all constructive suggestions. “This is not just a celebration; this is a call for unity, shared responsibility, and carrying forward the message of Guru Sahib,” Sandhwan said.
