Can Arvind Kejriwal replace Bhagwant Mann as Punjab’s Chief Minister? The question has been making rounds in political circles, but Mann himself has put the speculation to rest. Dismissing the claims as “rumour-mongering,” the Punjab chief minister said on Tuesday that Kejriwal, as a national leader, had commitments in multiple states, making such a change improbable. Speaking in Sardulgarh, Mansa district, Mann sought to silence opposition chatter after eight days of meetings with the AAP chief. His remarks came as he conducted surprise inspections of government offices and reviewed infrastructure projects.
During his unannounced visits to the newly constructed Sub Tehsil complex and hospital in Cheema (Sangrur) and the Tehsil Complex in Sardulgarh, Mann engaged with citizens, who commended his government’s efforts in service delivery. He emphasized the importance of public feedback in improving governance, stating that his visits were aimed at streamlining administrative functions rather than fault-finding among officials.
Mann reiterated his commitment to citizen-centric governance, urging government officers to work diligently and ensure a hassle-free experience for the public. He also reviewed preparations for the upcoming mela in memory of Sant Baba Attar Singh, instructing officials to ensure seamless arrangements for the anticipated influx of pilgrims.
The Chief Minister inspected an under-construction 20-bedded hospital, projecting its completion by June 30. He said the facility would significantly enhance healthcare services in the region. Additionally, he highlighted his administration’s focus on improving health, education, infrastructure, and employment opportunities as part of Punjab’s broader development agenda.
Mann took the opportunity to address the issue of Punjabis recently deported from the United States, assuring government support for their rehabilitation. He mentioned that the administration had enlisted successful entrepreneurs to guide returnees in rebuilding their lives.
In Sardulgarh, he announced the appointment of a regular tehsildar and the installation of high-speed internet at the local tehsil office to expedite administrative processes. Mann reiterated his government’s determination to make Punjab a leading state, ensuring prosperity and development for its people.
