In 33 months, the Punjab government has provided nearly 50,000 regular jobs in state departments and taken steps to enhance skill development and entrepreneurial opportunities, said Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora. Sharing details, he said that 49,949 government jobs were filled during the government’s tenure—a record achievement. Additionally, 2,65,430 candidates were assisted in securing private sector employment through 4,725 placement camps. The Punjab Skill Development Mission has trained 64,427 candidates in courses such as automotive machine operations, advanced respiratory therapy, beauty therapy, and solar panel technology. Of these, 47,821 candidates secured employment.
To promote entrepreneurship, 1,77,049 applicants received guidance to secure self-employment loans during 1,373 self-employment camps. Career guidance was extended to 8,56,874 candidates, alongside 23,917 career talks held in schools and colleges, he added.
He further said that in a significant move to empower women, the government has established a Centre for Training and Employment of Punjab Youth (C-PYTE) camp exclusively for girls in Kapurthala, managed entirely by female staff. Additionally, the NDA Preparatory Wing at the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute in Mohali, launched in May 2023, has trained 90 female cadets for NDA exams and SSB preparation. Notably, two cadets recently secured All India Ranks 4th and 23rd in the Air Force Academy Merit List, with six more cadets recommended for commissions.
