The Wheelchair Cricket Federation of India (WCFI) has announced a new leadership team and a national expansion roadmap following the passing of its founder Rekha Trivedi. The decisions were formalised during a Governing Body Meeting held at the Press Club in Chandigarh on March 21, 2026. Under the new structure, Kavita Rawat has been appointed as President, with Om Netam as Vice President, Vivek Trivedi as General Secretary, and Balbir Singh as Treasurer.
The newly formed governing body outlined a strategic plan aimed at expanding wheelchair cricket across India, with a focus on reaching remote areas and promoting inclusion among persons with disabilities. Key initiatives include setting up new state associations, forming specialised committees for governance and operations, and strengthening infrastructure and digital engagement through a new web portal.
The federation reiterated its commitment to providing a professional platform for differently-abled athletes and promoting the sport at both state and national levels. Representatives from eight states, including Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana, participated in the meeting.
