Mumbai Police have identified the intruder who stabbed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan six times during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence early Thursday, authorities said. The CCTV footage shows the attacker on the sixth floor of the building. Investigators suspect the intruder entered the home earlier in the night, as no signs of forced entry were found. Saif Ali Khan is reported to be in stable condition after undergoing medical treatment. The police continue to investigate the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood community.

The suspect fled through the staircase following the attack, which occurred around 2:30 am. The police recorded the statement of Saif’s domestic help, who raised the alarm during the incident. Mumbai Crime Branch officials are assisting in the investigation. The Police have registered a case against the attacker on dacoity and trespassing charges.

According to police, the attack unfolded in the children’s room, where a maid confronted the intruder. Saif intervened after hearing the commotion, leading to a scuffle during which he sustained six injuries  include two deep wounds(one near his spinal cord). According to media reports, Saif’s elder son, Ibrahim, rushed him to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw after failing to find a car. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, and their sons Taimur and Jeh were at home during the incident but were unharmed.
