Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politicising the death of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, saying the Congress-led state government is fully committed to cooperating with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and ensuring justice for Negi’s family. Speaking at a press conference in Shimla, he criticised the BJP for submitting a memorandum to the Governor, despite the Himachal Pradesh High Court already ordering a CBI investigation into the matter.
“There was no need for BJP to approach the Governor when the High Court has already acted,” Vikramaditya Singh said. “This is clearly an attempt to score political points over a sensitive issue.”
The minister emphasised that the Congress government had pledged complete cooperation with central agencies from the very beginning and would continue to do so at every stage of the investigation. “From day one, we have assured all support to the CBI. The BJP must stop using the Vimal Negi case for political mileage,” he said, adding that the government’s focus remains on justice, not headlines.
He also took aim at Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur, urging him to reflect on his own tenure before making accusations. “The Congress government has always stood by the law and supported every investigating agency. We will continue on that path without getting drawn into political theatrics,” Vikramaditya Singh asserted.
