Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 25

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday announced plans to establish a world-class university in Sri Anandpur Sahib, named after the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Making the announcement from the historic town founded by the Guru, Mann said the initiative would form part of the state’s tribute as Punjab marks the 350th anniversary of the Guru’s martyrdom.

Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal also joined devotees to offer prayers for the progress of the state and the prosperity of its people. The two leaders took part in the ardas performed after the bhog of the Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Baba Budha Dal Chauni, held to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the revered Sikh martyrs Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Dass, and Bhai Dayala. Addressing the gathering, both leaders said it was a profound honour to participate in the anniversary events and to pay homage to the legacy of sacrifice and courage associated with the Guru.
