Chandigarh/Ferozepur, November 3
Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Ferozepur Police, has arrested two members of the Ashish Chopra Gang and recovered 205 grams of heroin from their possession, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Monday. Those arrested were identified as Rashpal alias Sewak, a resident of village Kunde, and Rajiv alias Jassa, from village Bare Ke in Ferozepur.
According to DGP Yadav, preliminary investigations revealed that the two were in close contact with Yuvi, a shooter linked to the Ashish Chopra Gang and wanted in connection with the Ashu Monga murder case in Ferozepur in May 2025. Police said further investigations are underway to trace the gang’s wider network and dismantle its supply chain.
ADGP AGTF Promod Ban said the arrests were made following a tip-off, with police teams led by DSP Rajan Parminder and assisted by the Ferozepur Police. The suspects were apprehended near the Railway Crossing at village Madhre. SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said one of the accused, Rashpal Singh, has a criminal history and faces multiple cases under the NDPS Act and Arms Act. He said a case has been registered under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Ferozepur.
The DGP added that the arrests form part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ongoing drive to make Punjab “a safe and secure state by eliminating organised crime and drug networks.”
