US President Donald Trump, in his inaugural address declared that “America’s decline is over,” vowing to restore the nation’s global standing and strength.

Referring to a reported assassination attempt on him, Trump stated, “I was saved by God to make America great again,” framing his leadership as a divine mandate. He proclaimed January 20, 2025, as “Liberation Day,” marking a turning point for the nation.

Outlining his administration’s immediate priorities, Trump announced plans to declare a national emergency at the southern border. “All illegal entry will be immediately halted,” he said, emphasizing the reinstatement of the “Remain in Mexico” policy as his first executive order.

“I want to be a peacemaker and unifier,” Trump added, noting progress in securing the release of hostages. “Hostages are coming back home,” he said, without providing further details.

Trump also announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America,” asserting a symbolic assertion of U.S. sovereignty. He also took aim at China’s control of the Panama Canal. “China is operating the Panama Canal. We did not give it to China; we are taking it back,” he declared.
