Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has taken a dig at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, saying that speculation over his political future has intensified after AAP’s heavy defeat in Delhi. Jakhar said that whatever happened at Kapurthala House on Tuesday did little to ease Mann’s concerns. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he claimed the Punjab CM appeared visibly unsettled while speaking to the media, with his usual humor missing and his speech lacking its usual flow.
While addressing the press conference, Bhagwant Mann today dismissed speculation of internal divisions within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after a high-level meeting with party chief Arvind Kejriwal and state lawmakers at Kapurthala House in New Delhi. Mann refuted claims by Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa that 30 AAP MLAs were in touch with him, calling it baseless. “Bajwa has been making these statements for the past three years. There is no truth to them,” he said. Mann asserted that AAP remains united and committed to making Punjab a model state within the next two years.
The meeting, attended by 91 AAP MLAs and MPs from Punjab and also party senior leader Manish Sisodia. Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also dismissed concerns of instability, saying the gathering was focused on strengthening the party. Punjab MLA Anmol Gagan Maan also reaffirmed party unity, rejecting suggestions of external influence over government affairs. The meeting follows AAP’s defeat in the recent Delhi elections, placing greater scrutiny on its Punjab unit as the party prepares for the 2027 state polls.
