The temporary structure of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha being built at Sri Anandpur Sahib to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, will be completed by November 20, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan announced on Thursday.

Chairing a meeting with the Group of Ministers and senior officials at Virasat-e-Khalsa, Sandhwan said that this special Assembly session, dedicated to the Ninth Sikh Guru — revered as Hind Di Chadar — is aimed at spreading Guru Tegh Bahadur’s message of courage, compassion, and religious freedom across the world. The Speaker recounted that after Guru Sahib’s martyrdom in Delhi, Bhai Jaita Ji brought the Guru’s sacred head to Gurdwara Bibangarh Sahib (Kiratpur Sahib). From there, he, along with Mata Gujri Ji and Bal Guru Gobind Ji, carried it to Sri Anandpur Sahib, where the cremation took place — the site now known as Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that on November 24, a Nagar Kirtan will begin from Gurdwara Bibangarh Sahib and reach Sri Anandpur Sahib, where it will be welcomed by ministers and MLAs at various points along the route. The arrival of the procession will mark the commencement of the special Vidhan Sabha session.

Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond informed that arrangements have been made for Cabinet Ministers and MLAs to stay at Bhai Sati Das Pandal, allowing them and their families to reach Sri Anandpur Sahib by November 23 to take part in religious ceremonies. Separate transportation facilities will be provided for those attending the session directly to avoid traffic congestion.

Tourism Department Advisor Deepak Bali stated that all ministers and MLAs will participate in the commemorative events as sevadars (volunteers) alongside the sangat (devotees), paying homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice. He added that a special drone show would follow the Assembly session, offering a visual tribute expected to mesmerize attendees.

After the meeting, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, and other senior officials reviewed the preparations at Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial and issued necessary directions to ensure seamless execution of the event.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Parliamentary Affairs) D.K. Tiwari, Secretary Water Supply S. Harpreet Singh, Secretary Tourism Dr. Abhinav Trikha, Special Secretary PWD Hargunjeet Kaur, MD Infotech Jaspreet Singh, Director Local Government Kulwant Singh, Director Hospitality Tej Singh Saini, ADGP Surinderpal Singh Parmar, DIG Ropar Range Nanak Singh, Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana, and other senior officers.
