Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will embark on a six-day official visit to Spain, Portugal, and Brazil from June 30 to July 5 to represent India in high-level multilateral and bilateral financial engagements. In Seville, Spain, Sitharaman will attend the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) organised by the United Nations, where she will deliver India’s national statement. She will also speak at the International Business Forum Leadership Summit on mobilising private capital for sustainable development.

On the sidelines of the conference, she is scheduled to meet senior ministers from Germany, Peru, and New Zealand, as well as the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The Finance Minister will then travel to Lisbon, Portugal, for a bilateral meeting with her Portuguese counterpart and hold discussions with key investors and members of the Indian diaspora.

Her visit will conclude in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she will represent India at the 10th Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank (NDB) and the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (FMCBG). Sitharaman will also address a special session on transforming the NDB into a leading multilateral institution for the Global South.

On the sidelines of the Brazil leg, she is expected to hold bilateral talks with finance ministers from Brazil, China, Indonesia, and Russia. The visit comes at a crucial time as India seeks to strengthen its leadership role in shaping the global financial architecture and promote inclusive development through multilateral cooperation.
