Saurabh Duggal elected Chandigarh Press Club president with decisive victory

Saurabh Duggal of Sports Gaon has been elected president of the Chandigarh Press Club, securing 360 votes and defeating incumbent Nalin Acharya by a margin of 100 votes. The election was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner on Sunday. The election saw participation from journalists across India and abroad, with special provisions made for senior citizens and unwell voters to cast their ballots.

Duggal, who previously served two consecutive terms in 2022 and 2023, led his panel to a dominant victory, winning seven of the nine executive posts. Among the key positions, Umesh Sharma of News 18 was elected senior vice-president, defeating Sukhbir Bajwa of Dainik Bhaskar by 70 votes. Rajesh Dhall of Dainik Jagran secured the post of secretary general with 315 votes, narrowly defeating Dr Joginder of Dainik Tribune by 18 votes.

Other winners from Duggal’s panel include independent journalist Arshdeep Arshi as vice-president (1) and Amarpreet Singh of Punjabi Tribune as vice-president (2). Prabhat Katiyar of The Tribune was elected joint secretary-II, while Dushyant S Pundir of The Tribune took the role of treasurer.

The Nalin Acharya panel won two positions include Ajay Jalandhari of Swadesh News was elected secretary, and Mukesh Athwal of Punjabi Tribune secured the joint secretary (1) post.
