Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received a fresh death threat, prompting Mumbai Police to launch an investigation. A WhatsApp message containing the threat was received by the Mumbai Transport Department helpline on Sunday morning. According to police, the message claimed that Khan would be killed at his home and that his car would be blown up with a bomb. Police have filed a complaint against unknown individuals and are currently tracing the origin of the message.
Khan, who resides with his family at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra, has been the target of multiple threats in recent years — this latest incident marks the fifth reported threat to his life within the past two years. Last year, gunmen linked to the Bishnoi gang opened fire outside his residence. Subsequently, Mumbai Police upgraded his security. The actor has also been the target of an alleged assassination plot at his Panvel farmhouse, with reports suggesting that gang members had been monitoring his movements.
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has openly expressed hostility toward Khan, rooted in the controversial 1998 blackbuck poaching case involving the actor. Bishnoi has demanded an apology from Khan in Rajasthan, failing which he has threatened violence.
Meanwhile, on the cinematic front, Khan’s recent film Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss and released during Eid, has underperformed at the box office. The action-drama has earned just over ₹200 crore globally and is likely to fall short of the ₹250 crore mark.
