ZEE5 Original series Shabad Reet Aur Riwaaz, deeply rooted in Punjab’s faith, traditions and musical heritage, reached Chandigarh as part of its promotional journey ahead of its premiere on February 6.

Lead actors Mihir Ahuja and Chandigarh’s own Suvinder Vicky visited the city and began the day by seeking blessings at a Gurudwara, underlining the spiritual foundation at the heart of the series. The actors also interacted with renowned ragi singers, paying tribute to the sacred musical traditions that inspire the narrative.

The visit continued at Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri, where the actors engaged with students during the Sahityam Literature Festival. Mihir Ahuja spoke candidly about following one’s passion while balancing family expectations, a theme that resonated strongly with the young audience.

Shabad Reet Aur Riwaaz is an emotionally grounded coming of age drama set in Punjab that explores the delicate bond between a father and son. The story follows Gupjit Singh, a sixteen year old living with a stammer, who struggles between carrying forward his family’s sacred legacy of ragi singing and pursuing his own dream of playing football. Through themes of faith, inheritance and individuality, the series questions whether legacy is inherited or chosen.

Mihir Ahuja has steadily built a diverse body of work across films and digital platforms. He made his film debut with Super 30 in 2019, followed by appearances in acclaimed projects such as Mission Over Mars. He gained wider recognition through web series including Netflix’s Feels Like Ishq in 2021, Voot Select thriller Candy, and Amazon Prime Video’s Feels Like Home in 2022. In 2023, he featured in Netflix film The Archies, where he shared screen space with Suhana Khan.

He has also portrayed intense roles, including a negative character in State of Siege Temple Attack, and was seen in Dharma Productions’ film Sarzameen, which was released on July 25, 2025. He will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming series Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War, directed by Oni Sen, a project that promises to stir patriotic and inspiring emotions.

Speaking about the visit, Mihir Ahuja said the series holds special meaning as it is deeply rooted in Punjab’s faith, traditions and cultural values. He added that beginning the journey in Chandigarh with prayers at the Gurudwara and meaningful interactions with students made the experience emotionally fulfilling.

Suvinder Vicky described the visit as a heartfelt homecoming and said promoting the series in his hometown felt deeply personal. He added that interacting with local media, students and ragi singers, while honouring Punjab’s spiritual and musical legacy, made the journey even more special.

Shabad Reet Aur Riwaaz will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on February 6.
