India has called on Turkiye to strongly urge Pakistan to dismantle its decades-long support for cross-border terrorism, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday. “We expect Turkiye to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harboured for decades,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. “Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other’s concerns.”
Jaiswal confirmed that the matter involving Turkish official Mehmet Celebi had been raised with the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi, though the decision related to his travel was taken by Civil Aviation Security.
The MEA also drew attention to China’s continued support to Pakistan during recent regional tensions. Jaiswal said India’s National Security Adviser had spoken with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on 10 May 2025 to convey India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan.
“The Chinese side is aware that mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity remain the basis of India-China relations,” Jaiswal noted.
The spokesperson further disclosed that India had informed Pakistan through the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) channel after carrying out targeted strikes on terror camps on 7 May.
On broader regional diplomacy, Jaiswal said India is reaching out to 33 countries with a multi-party delegation to raise awareness about Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism.
He added that India has also asked Bangladesh to expedite nationality verification of illegal immigrants and reiterated India’s long-standing position on Gaza without elaboration.
