New Delhi, December 7
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will embark on a two-day visit to Russia from December 8-10, as India seeks to expedite pending deliveries of the advanced S-400 missile defence systems. Singh is set to co-chair the 21st meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) with his Russian counterpart, Andrey Belousov, in Moscow on December 10. The meeting will review the broad spectrum of defence ties, including military cooperation and industrial collaboration while addressing key regional and global issues of shared interest.
On December 9, Singh will commission the Indian Navy’s latest multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate, INS Tushil, at Yantra Shipyard in Kaliningrad. The ceremony will be attended by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.
During his visit, Singh will also pay homage at Moscow’s ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,’ honoring Soviet soldiers who died during World War II, and engage with members of the Indian community in Russia.
The visit underscores India’s focus on strengthening defence partnerships and addressing critical delivery timelines for strategic military assets.
