A heated confrontation unfolded outside the Parliament on Thursday, with both the BJP and Congress accusing each other’s MPs of assault during protests sparked by Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. BJP alleged that Odisha MP Pratap Sarangi was injured when Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, reportedly pushed another MP, causing the fall. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the incident. BJP leaders also accused Gandhi of arrogance, claiming Congress is resorting to physical altercations.

Speaking to the media, Rahul denied the accusations. “This might be on your camera. I was trying to enter Parliament when BJP MPs attempted to block, push, and threaten me,” he said. “This happened, but we do not get affected by jostling. We have the right to enter, and the BJP is attacking the Constitution and insulting Ambedkar’s memory.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, claimed he was also assaulted as he and other MPs arrived at Parliament’s Makar Dwar.
