Punjab’s Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has said the state’s revenues are showing strong growth, with GST collections in August 2025 rising by 18.66 percent compared with the same month last year. In a statement issued on Monday, Cheema said cumulative GST collections up to August 2025 have grown by 26.47%, reflecting what he described as the “resilience and efficiency” of Punjab’s tax administration. The minister noted that overall tax collections across categories had recorded a 15.39% year-on-year increase up to August, underlining improved compliance and broader economic momentum in the state.

Providing specific figures, Cheema said net GST collections for August 2025 stood at ₹2,138.80 crore, up from ₹1,802.50 crore in August 2024 — a rise of ₹336.30 crore. For the fiscal year so far, GST receipts have reached ₹11,338.47 crore, compared with ₹8,965.32 crore in the same period of 2024–25, an increase of ₹2,373.15 crore. Cumulative tax revenue from VAT, CST, GST, PSDT and excise up to August 2025 was reported at ₹19,364.36 crore, compared with ₹16,781.08 crore a year earlier.

Cheema  further said the figures demonstrate “sound fiscal management” under the Bhagwant Mann-led state government, which he added remains committed to fiscal discipline while directing growth benefits towards welfare and infrastructure development.
