Popular Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, aged 35, passed away on Wednesday at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, after battling for life for 11 days following a road accident in Himachal Pradesh. Jawanda was critically injured while riding his motorcycle near Solan district on September 27. Jawanda was critically injured while he was travelling in his motorcycle to Shimla near Solan district on September 27 . He had been placed on a ventilator and remained in critical condition till his death. Rajvir Jawanda, known for his hit songs such as Mera Dil, Kangani, and Sardaari, was celebrated for his powerful voice and traditional Punjabi folk style. His sudden death has left fans and the music fraternity in shock.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the singer’s demise, describing it as a huge loss to the Punjabi music industry. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mann wrote in Punjabi: “Deeply saddened to hear about the death of popular Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda during treatment after a terrible road accident near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh. The Punjabi music world has lost a shining star. His voice will continue to echo in our hearts forever. May Waheguru grant peace to his soul and strength to his family and admirers.”
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also paid tribute, calling Jawanda a “bright talent gone too soon.” In his post, he wrote, “Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of young Punjabi artist Rajvir Jawanda. His voice and charm touched countless hearts. Waheguru bless his soul and give strength to his family, friends, and admirers in this difficult time.”
Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring expressed similar grief, saying, “We all prayed for his recovery, but God had other plans. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul.”
