Chandigarh,  June 4
Punjab Police have arrested a YouTuber from Rupnagar district in connection with what authorities describe as a “major espionage network” with suspected ties to Pakistani intelligence and terror outfits. Jasbir Singh, who runs a YouTube channel titled Jaan Mahal, was taken into custody after the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali unearthed what they claim to be a transnational spy ring.

Jasbir is also accused of collaborating with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra—arrested earlier for spying—and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and former official of the Pakistani High Commission who was expelled from India.  Sharing details in his post on X, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Jasbir maintained contact with multiple individuals believed to be acting on behalf of Pakistan-based handlers, including PIO Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, embedded in a terror-linked espionage network.

According to investigators, Jasbir travelled to Pakistan on three occasions—2020, 2021 and 2024—and attended Pakistan’s National Day event in Delhi, where he reportedly met vloggers and senior Pakistani military officials. His devices, currently undergoing forensic analysis, were found to contain numerous contacts with Pakistani phone numbers.

Following Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir Singh is alleged to have attempted to delete digital communications that could link him to other individuals under investigation.

Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) and said further investigations are under way to trace the broader network and identify additional suspects.
