Chandigarh, March 10

Punjab’s Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister, Dr. Baljit Kaur, announced on Monday that financial assistance has been provided to nearly 2.25 lakh destitute children across the state. She said ₹367.59 crore had been disbursed as part of the government’s welfare initiatives. Dr. Kaur explained that the state government had allocated ₹377 crore for the welfare of destitute children in the current financial year, with almost the entire amount already utilized for their benefit.

She emphasized that the government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to transforming Punjab into a prosperous state. Financial support for the holistic development and welfare of vulnerable children is a critical part of this mission. Dr. Kaur urged department officials to raise awareness about these schemes to ensure that as many children as possible benefit from the government’s initiatives.
