Punjab Police have launched an investigation into unauthorised camps allegedly collecting citizens’ personal information under the guise of government schemes. Police said multiple teams have been formed after complaints that personal data, including Aadhaar details, was being gathered by individuals running such camps, raising concerns over potential data theft and bank fraud.

The District police authorities have directed inquiry teams to identify those involved, inspect the alleged sites and proceed in accordance with the law. A police spokesperson urged citizens not to share sensitive details with unauthorised persons and instead use official channels to access government schemes.

The spokesperson added that Government Suvidha Centres remain the authorised facilities where citizens can safely enrol for schemes or download beneficiary cards after proper identity verification.
