Chandigarh, March 7

In a significant breakthrough, Punjab’s Counter Intelligence unit in Jalandhar has thwarted a planned target killing orchestrated by a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module. Three members of the module—Jagroop Singh alias Jagga, Sukhjit Singh alias Sukha, and Navpreet Singh alias Nav—have been arrested. Police also recovered four sophisticated weapons along with ammunition. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced the development on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that preliminary investigations indicate the module was managed by USA-based gangster Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Nawashehria. Singh is a close associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, and was allegedly collaborating with Laadi Bakapuria, currently based in Greece.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to uncover both backward and forward linkages to dismantle the entire network. The Police have also recovered weapons include One Glock Pistol (9mm) with one magazine and six cartridges, One PX5 Storm (Beretta, 30 bore) with one magazine and four bullets, One country-made pistol (30 bore) with one magazine and four cartridges and One country-made pistol (32 bore) with one magazine and eight cartridges.
