The Punjab Police have arrested 10 operatives allegedly linked to an ISI-backed grenade attack module, in what officials described as a major security breakthrough. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the initial investigation indicates that the group had been in direct contact with Pakistan-based handlers. Communication was reportedly facilitated through three intermediaries operating from Malaysia, who coordinated the pickup and delivery of a hand grenade meant for an attack in a crowded area.
According to Yadav, the module had been tasked with triggering unrest in the state by executing the attack. Further investigations are under way to trace the wider network and establish the extent of foreign involvement.
