Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has condemned the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, calling it a “barbaric and inhuman act,” and assured that Punjab is maintaining a strict vigil to safeguard peace and security across the state. Following a high-level meeting with civil and police officials, Mann told reporters that the attack on innocent tourists exposed the brutal intent of terrorists, adding, “They have no religion, only the goal of spreading fear.”
Reiterating the state’s commitment to law and order, Chief Minister Mann said Punjab is fully prepared to counter any threats and ensure communal harmony is preserved. Security checks and patrolling have been intensified at interstate and inter-district borders, especially in vulnerable zones.
The Chief Minister highlighted coordination with Jammu and Kashmir authorities to assist tourists returning from the region. He also pointed to growing threats from a nexus of smugglers, gangsters, and terrorists using drones to smuggle weapons and narcotics. Anti-drone technology is being brought in, he said.
“Punjab is fighting a dual battle — against drugs and terrorism. Our police force, in coordination with the Army and BSF, is equipped to tackle any challenge,” Mann said, adding that security has been heightened at tourist locations and key institutions, including colleges with students from Kashmir.
He concluded by appealing for unity and calm: “Let us stand together in peace, as our gurus and seers have taught us.”
