Punjab’s Industry and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora on Friday said that the state government was committed to sustained engagement, faster clearances and industry-friendly reforms to make Punjab a preferred destination for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Addressing a press conference, Arora outlined measures aimed at strengthening the MSME sector, including simplified and time-bound regulatory processes, policy support and proactive handholding through Invest Punjab to ensure speedy approvals and smooth project implementation.
“MSMEs are the backbone of Punjab’s industrial economy, playing a vital role in employment generation, innovation and balanced regional development,” he said, adding that the government was focused on responsive governance so businesses could concentrate on growth rather than procedural hurdles. The minister said the state was in regular dialogue with industry stakeholders to understand challenges and tailor reforms accordingly. He reiterated the government’s resolve to maintain continuous engagement and facilitation to attract fresh investment.
Company representatives at the briefing said their interactions with the government had been positive and announced expansion and investment plans in the state. Collectively, the proposals exceed ₹400 crore and span sectors including auto components, logistics and warehousing, cold chain and agri-infrastructure, and renewable energy manufacturing.
Among the announced plans, Jai Parvati Forge will invest ₹300 crore in auto components at SAS Nagar, while Kova Fasteners plans a ₹50 crore expansion in Ludhiana. Luthra Cold Storage is set to invest ₹10–12 crore in cold chain and agri-logistics, and Mohali Logistics will put in ₹10 crore in warehousing. Roshni Renewables LLP announced a ₹100 crore investment in solar manufacturing in Fatehgarh Sahib under Phase I, with plans to scale up to ₹300 crore in later phases.
The investments are expected to strengthen Punjab’s MSME ecosystem and generate significant employment opportunities across the state.
