Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains met with representatives of four employee unions of the Education Department on Monday, addressing several key demands, including the regularization of services. The meeting aimed to find a resolution to the concerns raised by three unions—AIE Kachhe Adhiypak Union, IERT Vishesh Adhiyapak Union, and Sarva (Samagra) Shiksha Abhiyan/Mid Day Meal Daftri Karmchari Union. In response to their request for regularization, the Finance Minister directed the formation of a committee involving officials from the Education, Personnel, and Finance Departments to review the demands. He assured union leaders that their concerns would be handled with empathy, and a report would be submitted promptly.

In addition, Cheema directed the Education and Finance departments to examine the financial issues raised by the unions and to reconvene with him soon to discuss their findings. He also encouraged officials to consider the concerns of the Computer Teachers Union, whose members are employed under the Punjab Information and Communication Technology Education Society (PICTES). The Minister assured that their legitimate demands would be given due consideration.

The union leaders expressed hope that the discussions would lead to amicable solutions, as the government remains committed to addressing their concerns in a timely manner.
