Punjab’s Local Government Minister, Dr. Ravjot Singh, has reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving governance and public welfare during a high-level meeting at the Municipal Corporation Office. Dr. Ravjot Singh directed municipal authorities to enhance the city’s cleanliness efforts, calling for more structured and efficient practices. He emphasized addressing issues related to sanitation, sewerage maintenance, water supply, and street lighting in all wards, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents.

In light of ongoing waste management initiatives, Dr. Singh underscored the importance of adopting scientific waste disposal methods. He urged municipal officials to strengthen door-to-door waste collection services, ensuring cleaner streets and parks for the community. As the monsoon season nears, the Minister stressed the need for proactive measures, including clearing drainage systems, inspecting water pipelines for leaks, and preparing equipment to prevent waterlogging and public inconvenience. The meeting also saw discussions on the optimal use of state government grants for urban development projects, recruitment of municipal staff, and park maintenance. Dr. Singh instructed officials to identify locations for unipoles to boost advertisements.

After the meeting, Dr. Singh emphasized that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is focused on ensuring that essential services reach citizens efficiently. He also addressed concerns about corruption, reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance policy and warning that officials found involved in bribery would face strict legal consequences.
