Punjab DIPR celebrates Mahashivratri with religious fervor, hosts sweets and milk langar

The Punjab Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) marked the Mahashivratri festival with a special religious event and a sweets and milk langar at the Punjab Civil Secretariat-1. The ceremony began with Shri Ganesh worship in the parking area, followed by a traditional performance by the Jangam group led by Shiva priest Jagmeshwar. The group’s rendition celebrated the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati, drawing a reverent and enthusiastic response from attendees. The event concluded with the Shiva Aarti.

The langar served thousands of devotees, with senior officials including Chief Minister’s OSD (Media) Adil Azmi, Secretary of Information and Public Relations Malvinder Singh Jaggi, Director Vimal Kumar Setia, and Additional Director Sandeep Singh Garha offering prayers and serving food.

Olympic medalists and Indian hockey team players Vice Captain Hardik Singh and Gurjant Singh also attended. Officials, employees, and media personnel from various departments contributed to the event, with participants from the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Punjab Legislative Assembly joining the celebrations.

During the event, a small group of farmers who managed to reach Sector 34 ground were detained by Chandigarh Police.
