Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced that Priya Nair, currently President of Beauty and Wellbeing at Unilever, will take charge as CEO and Managing Director of HUL, from August 1. She will also join the HUL Board, subject to necessary approvals, and continue as a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE). With this appointment, Priya becomes one of the few Indian women to lead a major FMCG company in India.
Priya Nair joined HUL in 1995 and has held several leadership roles across sales and marketing in Home Care, Beauty & Wellbeing, and Personal Care. She served as Executive Director, Home Care (2014–2020), followed by Executive Director, Beauty & Personal Care (2020–2022) at HUL. She then moved to a global role as Chief Marketing Officer for Beauty & Wellbeing at Unilever and has been leading the segment as President since 2023 one of Unilever’s fastest growing businesses.
She will succeed Rohit Jawa, who will step down as CEO and MD on July 31. Jawa, who took over in 2023, led HUL through challenging market conditions and introduced the transformative ‘ASPIRE’ strategy. Under his leadership, the company achieved volume-led competitive growth. Chairman Nitin Paranjpe thanked Rohit for his contributions, noting his role in strengthening HUL’s foundation and sharpening its portfolio for future growth.
