Ambala, October 29
Varanasi-born Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, one of India’s first women Rafale pilots, posed with President Droupadi Murmu at Ambala Air Force Base on Wednesday, dismissing false claims circulating on Pakistani social media that she had been captured during ‘Operation Sindoor’. Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu created history today by taking a sortie in a Rafale aircraft at the Indian Air Force Station in Ambala, Haryana. With this, she became the first President of India to fly in two different fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force, having earlier undertaken a sortie in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in 2023.
“The sortie on Rafale is an unforgettable experience for me. This first flight on the potent Rafale aircraft has instilled in me a renewed sense of pride in the nation’s defence capabilities. I congratulate the Indian Air Force and the entire team of Air Force Station, Ambala for organising this sortie successfully”, the President wrote in her post on X.
