Rajkot, April 13
At the first convocation of AIIMS Rajkot, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday spoke about how artificial intelligence and digital technologies are changing healthcare. She also emphasized that human empathy in medicine cannot be replaced.
President Murmu told the graduating students to welcome new developments in AI, robotics, and digital health to improve patient care. She said that, even as these tools change medicine, being compassionate and building personal connections with patients remain essential and cannot be replaced by technology.
“The white coat you wear symbolizes immense trust. It is your responsibility to preserve it,” she told the graduates. She urged them to keep the values of trust, integrity, and empathy that are important in medicine. President Murmu also asked the institution and its students to pay attention to local health issues, especially in rural and tribal areas, and to incorporate these issues into their research and healthcare work.
The President recognized how AIIMS institutions across India help improve healthcare through education, patient care, and research. She said she is confident that the new graduates from AIIMS Rajkot will be skilled and socially aware healthcare professionals who will make a positive difference in society.
At the convocation, 49 MBBS students and one recipient of a postdoctoral certificate in virology received their degrees. This event was an important milestone for AIIMS Rajkot and showed the institution’s dedication to high standards in healthcare education and service.
