Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan on 22 May to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, as part of his government’s pre-election development push. Modi will begin his day at the Karni Mata temple in Deshnoke, a major pilgrimage site, before proceeding to inaugurate the redeveloped Deshnoke railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a flagship initiative to modernise over 1,300 railway stations across the country. The station’s architecture has been redesigned to echo the aesthetics of nearby temples, incorporating arches and columns that reflect the region’s cultural heritage.
In a significant nod to rail infrastructure, Modi will also flag off a new Bikaner-Mumbai express train and unveil 103 redeveloped Amrit Stations across 86 districts, built at a cost of over ₹1,100 crore. These stations — including Begumpet in Telangana, Thawe in Bihar and Dakor in Gujarat — integrate local architectural motifs, sustainable designs and accessible amenities.
The Prime Minister’s visit will also include laying the foundation stones and inaugurating electrification works on multiple rail lines totalling over 1,000 kilometres, furthering Indian Railways’ mission to achieve 100% electrification. New projects include the Churu–Sadulpur line and completed electrification of key routes such as Phulera–Degana and Samdari–Barmer.
Modi is expected to address a large public gathering in Palana, where he will highlight his government’s investment in road, power, and water infrastructure. Among the initiatives being launched are ₹4,850 crore worth of highway projects — including three vehicle underpasses and expansion of roads extending to the Indo-Pakistan border. Officials said the roads will enhance logistical efficiency and bolster defence connectivity in frontier regions.
In the energy sector, Modi will inaugurate solar projects in Bikaner and lay foundations for new ones in Didwana Kuchaman, while also commissioning upgrades to transmission infrastructure under PowerGrid’s transmission schemes in Sirohi, Neemuch and Mewar. The government says these clean energy installations are expected to reduce carbon emissions and increase power reliability in the region.
He will also preside over the launch and foundation laying of 25 state-level development projects. These include upgrading 12 state highways covering over 750 kilometres, expanding healthcare access with new nursing colleges in Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, and Dholpur, and initiating vital water supply and fluorosis mitigation schemes in Jhunjhunu and Pali districts.
The high-profile visit comes amid growing political activity in Rajasthan, where infrastructure and welfare promises are expected to play a central role in the coming months. Modi’s focus on region-specific cultural design in infrastructure, paired with broad-scale development works, reflects the BJP’s dual messaging on tradition and progress.
